Many
924 and 931 owners desire to replace the aging and failure-prone OEM
mechanical fuel injection
system with a modern EFI solution. For now, this is strictly DIY
territory, as there are no off-the-shelf solutions available for the
924 or the 931. Our goal is to develop EFI solutions that are
affordable and as near bolt-on as possible for otherwise-stock normally
aspirated and turbocharged applications, as well as highly modified
forced induction projects.
Other EFI components under consideration are
purpose-built trigger wheels for distributorless ignition conversions,
cost-effective engine management systems with baseline maps for the 924
and 931, and a variety of ancillary components required for a complete
bolt-on kit (such as fuel pressure regulators, flow-matched injector
sets, wiring harnesses, etc.). If you have an EFI conversion project,
and would like to discuss co-development, please contact us.
Purpose-built
Fuel Rail for 931 Coming
Soon! In
mid-2009 we commissioned a purpose-built fuel rail for a couple of our
931 EFI conversion projects. We worked directly with CPR (Creative
Performance Racing), a well-known supplier in the Detroit area to the
high-end OEM modification community and the aftermarket. We provided
CPR with sample heads, intake manifolds, injectors, and charge tubes to
ensure the best possible fitment and mounting arrangement.
Features
Aluminum
extrusion
Drilled for
standard AN fittings
Can
accommodate return or returnless systems
Includes
port for top mounted fuel pressure gauge
Manufactured
and leakdown-tested on the bench by CPR
Benefits
Large
bore extrusion for maximum fuel flow
Anodized
aluminum safe for use with all fuels including E85 and other
alcohol-based formulations
Welded
mounting tabs rather than clamp style hold down brackets to minimize
fuel leakage risks
Lifetime
manufacturer warranty
Additional
Requirements On
a stock 931, the breather update interferes
with any EFI style fuel rail. Ultimately, we plan
to offer a complete
kit that will include a replacement breather block-off plate for the
head, as well as your choice of a modified oil filler cap with breather
port, or an ignition distributor block-off plate with breather port for
projects that are converting to some form of distributorless ignition
(DIS).

Compatibility We
have not yet test fit this arrangement on the 2.0L 924 normally
aspirated head. However, given the commonality between it and
the
turbocharged version, we believe this rail is equally suitable for
normally aspirated applications, particularly if a supercharger is
being added. The only fitment concerns we need to verify are clearance
with the OEM air intake rubber boot, and the aforementioned breather
update plate.
