New! 931 Top Mount Intercooler
Patterned after the factory top mount intercooler from the 937, our exclusive air-to-air TMIC builds on the success of our TMCC (liquid-to-air charge cooler). As with the TMCC, our TMIC is also fabricated exclusively for Ideola's Garage by Bell Intercoolers. And, like the TMCC, it uses all of the stock mounting points. As one enthusiast remarked, "It looks like it's supposed to be there!"

The air-to-air version offers the same great flow charateristics of the TMCC, and is perfectly suited for anyone building a 937 replica. It is also better suited for long boost runs that might be experienced on the track or during long-distance Autobahn-style freeway driving.

Each unit comes with a serialized plate bearing the BIC logo. These units bolt on to all of the existing 931 or 937 mount points, and accommodate the OEM vacuum ports and boost cutoff switch. The wastegate actuator line requires our inexpensive aftermarket kit. We have also recently added a new 1/8"-27 NPT port just before the throttle plate for customers who want to add a water-methanol injector for additional boost cooling.

Of course, in the case of the TMIC, it will require a hood scoop because it is an air-to-air unit. May we suggest removing your valuable NACA duct 931 hood, and using a cheap and plentiful 924 NA, 924S, or 944 hood?!

931 Top Mount Charge Cooler
The 931 has significant performance potential, despite the bad reputation of its normally aspirated predecssor. A bullet proof bottom end, low static CR, and otherwise cheap components make for a great platform for power adders. The big challenge, however, is that the 931's badge panel is spot welded in place, meaning that there is effectively no way to add an off-the-shelf generic intercooler without cutting sheet metal. Until now!!!

These units are fabricated exclusively for Ideola's Garage by Bell Intercoolers (as in Corky Bell, author of "Maximum Boost", the authoritative text on turbocharging). In 2012, we sent Bell one of our spare factory 937 top mount air-to-air intercoolers, which was used to develop a jig for precisely replicating the mounting geometry. The result is a liquid-to-air intercooler that is direct bolt-on. No sheet metal cutting required.

In addition, the liquid-to-air design provides a more efficient means of intercooling than the factory air-to-air unit, which sits directly over the exhaust manifold. For street-driven applications, the OEM 937 TMIC is actually an interheater in stop-and-go traffic! While our charge cooler version (TMCC) does add some complexity for the water cooling circuit, it overcomes the heat soak issue for street driven applications. Once the intercooler is installed, stock boost levels can be safely increased (using our manual boost controller) into at least the 15-17 psi range, rocketing an otherwise stock 931 from ~150BHP to the 200BHP range.

TMCC Wastegate Actuator Kit

Ideola's Manual Boost Controller
Create that vintage GTR look and feel with this in-cockpit manual boost controller kit! Contains everything required to plumb the controller into the cockpit and plumb the return line into the top port of the large 930-derived dual-chamber wastegate on the 931.

The larger 1/4" ports on this regulator eliminate the nasty boost spikes that can occur with generic off-the-shelf boost controllers that have tiny ports, and are designed for modern wastegates with much smaller chambers.
